Am I in Love?

It is a very common question, "How can I tell I'm in love?", but it is not an easy question to answer. What feels like love to one person may be nothing more than attraction to another. Some people fall in and out of love quickly and often while others are never really in love as much as they are in lust. This can get confusing when you are a teen because romantic love is a relatively new concept for you and you don't know what to expect. You are overwhelmed with all sorts of new feelings and social pressures. They are confusing. What is love? What makes you want a romantic relationship with one person and not another? How does your heart choose a partner? Why does love end? These questions can't be easily answered.

One of the most confusing quasi-love feelings is lust. Lust is a very powerful, very intense feeling of physical attraction toward another person. Lust is mainly sexual in nature - the attraction is superficial based on instant chemistry rather than genuine caring. Usually we lust after people we do not know well, people we still feel comfortable fantasizing about. It is very common for people to confuse lust for love. But why? What is it about lust and love that make them so easy to mix up? If lust is all about sex, how can a relationship without sex be about lust? Teens struggle with this because they see lust in the Biblical sense, but lust isn't that sinister. Lust is about physical attraction and acting ONLY on physical attraction. Love is about much more than that. Yet many teens (and to be fair, many adults) confuse an intense attraction for some sort if divine love. For teens, since feelings of attraction are still new and since pop-culture sells sex and love as one package, it is very easy to get the two mixed up.

Lust is clearly not love. Love is based on more than just physical attraction. Sure, attraction is a factor, but love goes deeper than that. Love is based on caring, friendship, commitment and trust. When you are in love it is as if you have your best most trusted friend at your side AND you feel physically attracted to them. It is the best of both worlds! Love is a shared feeling between two people who have a vested interest in one anothers happiness. Love is not about jealousy. It is not about conflict. It is not about testing. Love is a positive feeling. If it is tainted by mistrust, jealousy, insecurity or spitefulness it is not really love but merely a pale copy. Love is the total surrender of your heart to another person with the security of knowing they will treat it better than you will. Love should feel good. It should not feel bad. Love should make you want to be a better person, it should not lead you to do something self destructive. Love is not demanding of your spirit but lifts it and makes it glow. Love is a good thing. Anything less is lust, deep friendship or attraction. So the sappiness aside, the question remains, how can you tell you are in love?
There is no easy way to find the truth behind your feelings or the feelings of another person but there are some tell-tale signs that love is blooming (or growing deeper). If you agree with 7 of the following 9 statements you are probably in love.

  1. You know, because you have been told by your significant other, that your deep feelings are returned in kind.
  2. The object of your affections makes you feel special and good about yourself.
  3. If/when you feel jealous it is always fleeting; you trust your partner not to betray you or hurt your relationship.
  4. Nothing makes you feel as serene as when you and your partner are together.
  5. When you fight with your partner you usually make up within a few hours and you always agree that nothing is more important than you both being able to express your true feelings (even if they sometimes cause conflict).
  6. Your partner never asks you to choose between him/her and your loyalties to your family and friends - if you do choose him/her over them you always have a good reason and it is always YOUR decision, and your decision alone.
  7. Neither you or your partner feel the need to test the other's loyalties or feelings.
  8. You are more yourself when with your partner than you are with anybody else.
  9. If sex is part of your relationship it is by mutual desire and agreement without the slightest hint of commitment testing or persuasion.

Advice for a Long Distance Relationship

The first thing a person should do in any relationship is to throw out the old cliché of “Love means never having to say you’re sorry” because love should mean wanting to say you're sorry. If your loved one is hurt, even if they are at fault, apologizing for your part in the fight can get you a lot farther then blaming. Honey does catch more flies than vinegar.

If you honestly feel that you are completely in the right you can still say that you are sorry for the reactions you and your mate had towards the situation. No matter what, I am sure that upsetting him or her was the last thing that you wanted to do. This does not mean to minimize your feelings in anyway only to take the focus off “who’s to blame” and put it where it belongs- on the problem at hand. Once the other person is off the defensive, it makes the issue something that you’re facing together instead of at odds. By doing this it will help the two of you to remember that you are both on the same side, with the same ultimate goal in mind- mutual happiness.

This moves us on to another old cliché that I absolutely despise- “Always fight fair”. When it comes to relationships, your main objective should be to not fight. I am not talking about a perfect fairytale where you never disagree with your significant other because fights will happen, even in the most secure of couples. I just do not understand why people prepare for a fight like they would a political debate or, worse yet, like they are going into combat. So, choose your words carefully and plan ahead of time how you can be considerate of your partner’s views, do not dismiss them.

The key to any relationship is honesty. If something is really bothering you, then by all means, say so. Before opening your mouth, ask yourself if what you’re about to say is truly what’s wrong. Make sure that you are not just turning your loneliness into something else. The biggest mistake that people make in a long distance relationship is to channel their feelings of longing for one another into a trivial matter, then end up fighting.

If the main complaint is being apart from your loved one, then tell him or her how you feel. It takes a strong independent person to have a long distance relationship and it also takes a lot of strength to admit that it is not enough anymore. If you and your partner are constantly fighting, it may be time re-evaluate and re-structure the relationship. It may only take a few more phone calls or chat sessions during the week to improve things between the two of you immensely. Maybe, using some saved up vacation time is in order. Both of you taking time off is preferable so you can renew your love. But if only one of you can skip work, still go and visit the other. (Who knows? That person may end up loving it and decide to stay.) If it’s been a truly good relationship, loneliness very rarely means an ending to it all. In fact, it can “make the heart grow fonder” as long as you stay truthful in your communications with one another.

If the distance between the two of you has become a major issue, then it may be time to talk about one of you relocating. But before starting this conversation makes sure that you have tried everything else to improve the relationship and that this kind of life altering commitment is what you truly want. Remember, it is a long distance relationship for a reason. Whether because of a job, family or a mixture of things - one of you will be giving up something that was important enough to warrant being apart in the first place.

A Gift of Love

The passengers on the bus watched sympathetically as the attractive young woman with the white cane made her way carefully up the steps. She paid the driver and, using her hands to feel the location of the seats, walked down the aisle and found the seat he'd told her was empty. Then she settled in, placed her briefcase on her lap and rested her cane against her leg.

It had been a year since Susan, 34, became blind. Due to a medical misdiagnosis she had been rendered sightless, and she was suddenly thrown into a world of darkness, anger, frustration and self-pity. And all she had to cling to was her husband, Mark.

Mark was an Air Force officer and he loved Susan with all his heart. When she first lost her sight, he watched her sink into despair and was determined to help his wife gain the strength and confidence she needed to become independent again.

Finally, Susan felt ready to return to her job, but how would she get there? She used to take the bus, but was now too frightened to get around the city by herself. Mark volunteered to drive her to work each day, even though they worked at opposite ends of the city. At first, this comforted Susan, and fulfilled Mark's need to protect his sightless wife who was so insecure about performing the slightest task.

Soon, however, Mark realized the arrangement wasn't working. Susan is going to have to start taking the bus again, he admitted to himself. But she was still so fragile, so angry - how would she react? Just as he predicted, Susan was horrified at the idea of taking the bus again.

"I'm blind!", she responded bitterly. "How am I supposed to know where I am going? I feel like you're abandoning me."

Mark's heart broke to hear these words, but he knew what had to be done. He promised Susan that each morning and evening he would ride the bus with her, for as long as it took, until she got the hang of it. And that is exactly what happened. For two solid weeks, Mark, military uniform and all, accompanied Susan to and from work each day.

He taught her how to rely on her other senses, specifically her hearing, to determine where she was and how to adapt to her new environment. He helped her befriend the bus drivers who could watch out for her, and save her a seat.

Finally, Susan decided that she was ready to try the trip on her own. Monday morning arrived, and before she left, she threw her arms around Mark, her temporary bus-riding companion, her husband, and her best friend. Her eyes filled with tears of gratitude for his loyalty, his patience, And his love. She said good-bye, and for the first time, they went their separate ways. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday... Each day on her own went perfectly, and Susan had never felt better. She was doing it! She was going to work all by herself.

On Friday morning, Susan took the bus to work as usual. As she was paying the fare to exit the bus, the driver said, "Boy, I sure do envy you." Susan wasn't sure if the driver was speaking to her or not. After all, who on earth would ever envy a blind woman who had struggled just to find the courage to live for the past year? Curious, she asked the driver, "Why do you say that you envy me?"

The driver responded, "It must feel good to be taken care of and protected like you are." Susan had no idea what the driver was talking about, and again asked, "What do you mean?"

The driver answered, "You know, every morning for the past week, a fine-looking gentleman in a military uniform has been standing across the corner watching you as you get off the bus. He makes sure you cross the street safely and he watches until you enter your office building.

Then he blows you a kiss, gives you a little salute and walks away. You are one lucky lady." Tears of happiness poured down Susan's cheeks. For although she couldn't physically see him, she had always felt Mark's presence. She was lucky, so lucky, for he had given her a gift more powerful than sight, a gift she didn't need to see to believe - the gift of love that can bring light where there is darkness.

Search for Love

I came from my village to the city in search of job. I was F.A. I could not find any job. My uncle was doing a job of guard in a bungalow. He offered me to do a job there as a driver. I accepted his offer. He called me there.

When I reached at the bungalow.he took me to the owner of the house. He asked about my education. Then he said, can I trust you? I said, yes sir you can trust me. I will never break your trust. He appointed me as a driver. My duty was to pick and drop his daughter to university.

Daily I dropped her at university and also picked her. When she went to university, she had covered her face with veil. I had never seen her face. I had no courage to look at her. As came out of the house, I had put down my eyes. On the way of college, I had never talked to her. I was known i am her servant and she is my owner. It was my duty to respect her.

One day she started to talk with me. I felt hesitation. She said to me, I want to know about you because you are my personal driver. Dad had appointed you only for me. She asked me about my education, my village and about my family. I told her, I am FA; my village is far away of the city. I had a younger sister and father mother in my family. She asked me, do your parents love you. I said, yes they love me so much and I also love them. She said, I am amazed that your parents love you. I asked her, do your parents not love you. She said, it is my personal matter. Then I did not ask her anything. She asked me, did you have interest in poetry? I said I have great interest in poetry; I also have many poetry books. She said, I will come to get a book of poetry. I said, yes of course. We reached at university. She went out of the car, she bend on the front window mirror and said good bye to me. I did not reply and started the car.

Next day she came out of the house. I opened the door of the car for her. She said thanks. I was surprised at her behavior. As she sat in the car, she took down her veil. My eyes fixed on her face. She was so beautiful and pretty. I was just looking at her. She knocked at the mirror of the window. Then I closed the back door. I sat on my seat and started the car. On the way I saw her in the back mirror seen mirror. She was silent today. She did not talk with me. At reaching university, she opened the door and went out. To day she did not say good bye.

I came back but I was lost in her beauty. She over covered my mind and heart. I was waiting for the time of her coming impatiently. I reached at university before time. I was standing out of the car. She was coming towards the car and I was just looking at her. She was smiling and talking with her friend. as she came close the car, her friend said good bye. She looked at me and said, why are you standing out of the car today? I did not say anything and opened the door for her. She smiled and sat on the seat. I closed the door. Sat on my seat and started the car.

When, we reached at home. Her mother was sitting in the lawn. She saw Sana without veil. She asked Sana, why she took down her veil. Sana did not reply her and went in to the house. I was standing there. Her mother looked at me and shouted at me, why you are standing there. I went to my quarter.

In the evening I was laying on the bed. I closed my eyes and her face was in front of me. At once I opened my eyes. She was standing at the door of my room. I stood up and asked her, why she came there. She gave me order and I will present in front of her. She said, I am coming there to get a book of poetry what you like much. I gave her my favorite poetry book. When she saw the book, she said, it is my favorite book. I asked her, you may keep her forever. She smiled and said, now I am going if mother know that she will shouted at me.

Days were passing. We became friends. She shared with me her every problem and also happiness. I liked her in my heart but I can not express her because she was the daughter of rich man. I was their servant. I was happy to see her. She talked to me, smiled at my jokes.
One day I was standing out side in her wait. At once I heard the voice of her mother. She was shouting at Sana. Sana opened the door of house and came out quickly. Her mother was at her back and was saying. If you have any shame then you will not come back to house. I was much surprised to see that. Sana replied, I will fulfill you desire soon. She opened the door of the car and sat on the seat. She ordered to go. I started the car. On the way she asked me to stop on a coffee shop. She came out of the car and said to me to come out. I locked the car and we entered into the coffee shop. We sat on the chairs, she ordered for two cup of coffee.

I asked her, why she bring me there? She said, I want to say something to you. I want to marry you Hassan. I can not live here among these fake personalities. My life destroyed after my mother. I said, after your mother mean? She said, your madam is my step mother. My real mother had dead in my childhood. My father got married with that cruel lady. She did not take me as her daughter. I always endure her misbehavior but now I have no more power to endure her. I like you Hassan; I want to go with you to your village. Where, I will live a free life. Where people love me and did not look at me with hate. She was saying and also crying. I could not say something.

I was just listening her. She asked me, do you like me or not. I became surprised at her question. She asked again. Then I replied, yes I like you but……… she said, don’t say anything. Will you take me to your village? I said, I need some time to think about it. She said, I give you just two days. If you will refuse me then I will go with any other boy of my university. I am a beautiful girl. Any one will ready to take me any where. I was silent. She did not take the coffee and stood up. I also stood up and came out of the coffee shop.

All the night I thought about her. She was so nice girl. If I will refuse her, she will adopt a wrong way, it will very bad for you. I could not understand what I have to do? I could not sleep whole night.

In the morning, I was waiting for her. She came out and said, I will not go the university today. She came near to me and said, you have only one day. Then I will go with any other boy. She turned and went into the house. I was still standing there. I thought, if I take her with me, I will break the trust of my owner. If I refuse her, she will destroy her life. It was most important for me to save her because I love her so much. I decided to take her to my village.

Next morning, I was cleaning the car. She was sitting in the lawn. I felt her eyes were fixed on me. When I had completed my work, I said to her, I had decided. She asked me, what is your decision? I said, I am ready to take you to my village. She became so happy. She said, in the evening we will go but I will not bring any thing from my house. I hate with every thing of that house. I said to her, we do not need of anything.

In the evening she said me to bring out the car. I brought out it and she sat in. we reached at the station. Left the car there and took the ticket for my village. Train had come. We sat in the train. After the journey of night we reached at village. I took her to my home. My parents were so much confused to see her. they became angry with me. They thought I had got married without them.

I told them all about Sana. They were not ready to agree but Sana told them, she had come there in search of love and ease. She promised my parents, she will never give them any pain or sorrow in life. My parents understood her. They accepted her as their daughter in law.

After three days, we got married. We all were very happy. I did not think about her parents. If they came behind us then, what will I do?

One day, her parents came at our house with police. They were reached there by my uncle. They blamed at me I had kidnapped their daughter. But Sana said to the police officer, it is wrong. I had come there with my own desire, he did not kidnap me. Her father said, you have insulted me in the society. I can not face the people. My daughter, you have to go back with me.

Sana replied him; no I am very happy there. I will not go back. Now I am his wife and without his permission I can not go any where. I also have no desire to go back. I am so happy here. It is good for you to go back. You just think I have dead.

Pure Love

Our friendship started from internet. We were just Facebook friends. We chatted daily and became best friends. Her name was Samia and she lived in Canada. I was not much interested in her, i just took her as a friend. She was interested in me more than a friend. She sent me her pics, she was a beautiful girl. I also sent her my pics. We kept on chatting on Facebook. As time passed we started talk on phone.

One day she asked to me, she liked me. I told her, i liked her so much and her friendship is most important than all. She became so glad when she listened that. She was impressed by my personality and with my conversation. She showed her wish to me that she want to meet me in real. I asked her the reason to meet, she said she loved me. I was surprised at her reply. I was not in love with her, i was just doing time pass. But she was seriously fell in love with me. She decided to come Pakistan to meet me. I did not tell her that i was not in love with her. I thought she is cheated me but i was wrong.

She made me a call and told me she is coming Pakistan in next week. I was little surprised, she really came to there for me. But i had decided. She asked me to receive her at airport. I promised her, i will the first person who will meet her at airport. But i did not go to receive her. For few days i did not go online on Facebook. I did not want to had any contact to her because i was not serious with her. She was just time pass for me.

One evening i received a call from an unknown number. There was a girl on other side, she was just crying and was not saying something. I was confused, who is she there? I said hello, hello and hello again but she did not reply. After a while i made a call on that unknown number. Then she said, she is Samia. I was so confused, i thought what i do now? She asked me, why i did not come to receive her. I told a lie to her that my mother was in hospital and i was busy in her care. She agreed with me and said she wanted to see me. I try to put off her but she did not accepted my excuses. So i promised to meet her. Then we decided the day and place.

When the day came, i asked to my friend to meet her and make her clear that I do not love her. She was just my friend and now is nothing. My friend became ready to meet her and went to the decided place. She was already there. When my friend introduced himself with her, she asked for me. He said i had come to tell the truth, that Junaid do not in love with you, he was just your friend. Now you should understand that he is not interested in you.

She began to cry and said, i love him so much, i came there for him and i want to marry him. I had become mad for him and he had become my life. I can’t live without him. My friend tried to made her understand but she was not ready to understand anything. She said to him, if Junaid will not accepted my love i will kill myself.

My friend came to me and told about her. I was so upset after knowing her condition. Then i decided to meet her. When i meet her, she was so weak. She said, she had many friends but she did not love anyone in her life. I was her first love and she do not want to lost her lover.

She was saying and i was just listening her. Her pure and sincere conversation impressed me, then i thought i had done wrong behavior with her. So i decided to marry her. I thought such a sincere girl will not come in my life again. It was just a net love and i had always taken it as time passed.

Innocent Love

Ayed was one of the best student of Mount College. He was much famous in girls. He had an impressive personalty with his tall height, builder body and his beautiful green eyes. He had no interest in girls but girls were mad for him. He did not like the wanton and sprightly girls. He was always in search of simple girl. But he did not find a such girl.

Riba lived in a village. Her parents were dead. Her elder brother always fulfilled her all desires. When she asked for more education in college, he agreed. He took her to city and admitted her in Mount College. She was so simple and well mannered girl. In the beginning she felt hesitation to talk anyone.

One day she went to library to issue a book. She was confused and feeling uneasy. Suddenly, a voice came to her ears. It was a male voice, she startled. She turned and saw a handsome and smart boy was standing and smiling.

He asked, have you any problem? She was agitated. For her satisfaction, he said, I am the president of Library society, may i help you miss? She replied, yes i want to issue a book but i don’t know the procedure. He helped her and issued the book.

She had gone but Ayed was lost in her innocent face. She is so simple and innocent, he thought. Now he was in search of a pretense to meet her. But Riba was not comfortable in his company. She liked him but she remembered the promise which she had made with her brother. She do not want to break his trust.

Day by day Ayed came to close Riba. He felt, he is in love with her.He thought, she is the girl for which he was searching. He had a fear in heart that she will not accept his love. So, he did not express his feelings. She did not want but also came close to him.

One day Ayed expressed his love in front of her. She became sad and said I love you too but i am afraid of my elder brother. He will not accept our love. She began to crying. He said, i will do everything for you. You are my love and my life. I will try to agree your brother. I will face all the troubles for you my dear.

She was free from college, her brother took her to village. She was sad and always think about Ayed. Her brother felt her uneasiness. He asked her, why she is so sad? She replied, no i am all right.

She was much surprised to see Ayed in her house. He was sitting in their drawing room. He was talking to her brother. She went to her room and was confused at his arrival.

After a while her brother came to her room. She was afraid and trembling with fear. She thought her brother will angry with her.
He came and asked her about Ayed. She was silent and began to crying. His brother hugged her and said, are you mad, why are you weeping. Ayed had cleared me the whole situation. He has purposed you. If you want then i will accept his proposal. Don’t you know, i always wanted your happiness.

She showed her positive response. Her brother was happy with her decision. He accepted Ayed’s proposal and be ready to married them.
Ayed and Riba are very happy now. Her simplicity made his life beautiful.

Promise

She was my school fellow. Faiza was 15 years old and I was 19years old, when I fell in love with her. she was a beautiful and pretty girl. She was also counted in bright students of the school. Many others boys wanted to be her friend but she did not accepted their friendship. I also had desire to be friend of her.  but I was afraid of her refusal. I was not just like her but also loved her.

One day I took courage and stopped her on the way of school. She was much confused at my stupid act. She did not look at me and was standing silently. Then, I asked, do you like me? She did not reply. I said, I like you but not, I love you so much. She looked at me; her eyes were full of tears. She did not reply me and said to leave her way. Her tears made me perplexed. I did not want to hurt her. Then I was unease and wanted to know the reason of her tears.

She was sitting in canteen alone. I sat beside her and asked her to come with me. She accepted my offer at once. I was surprised at her reaction. I was hope that she will angry with me and will shout at me but her response was positive. I was very happy when she was sat on my bike. It was first time, a girl was sat on my bike.

We reached in a park. We were sitting silently. Then I started to saying. I asked her the reason of her tears. She said, she also loves me but she was in wait of my declaration.  She said, I will always with you and will never leave me alone in life. Her promise made so glad.

Now we met daily in that park. I picked her to school and also dropped her at home. Soon our love story got fame in school. Most of our time, we passed with each other.

She invited me on dinner at her home. There was only her mother in the house. Her father had dead. Her mother loved her daughter so much. Faiza introduced me with her mother, he is my school fellow. His name is Danish. His gave me blessings and asked bout my family. I told her all about my family.

Then, mostly I went to her house to meet her. Her mother never became angry with me. She loved me like her son. I also went there in absence of her mother. Gradually, we came much closer to each other. It was impossible for us to live away of each other.

I became mad in her love. She also loved me so much. It was so difficult for us to pass a moment without each other. We were in love for 7 years. During those years, my love for her changed into my craze. It was my only purpose to marry with Faiza.

One day her mother invited me at her home. She asked me, what I think about her daughter? I said, I love her so much, she is my life. I want to marry with her, if you give permission. She said,  I am not agree with you. I can not wed my daughter with you, because I had decided to wed her with her cousin since her childhood. He is the son of my elder brother. I can not refuse my brother. So, you should forget her. I was in shocked, when her mother asked me to forget her. I requested her, please don’t do that, I will die without my life and Faiza is my life. She is the heart beat of my. If she was not in my life, how I will alive? But she did not accept my request.

I asked her, why you did not stop me to come there? Why you did not stop me to love your daughter in beginning? Why did you offer me to come your house? Now I loved her more than my life and you are saying to forget her.

She said, I know you love my daughter so much and will keep her so happy. But I did not forget the promise, what was I had given to my brother. If my daughter wants to marry with you, first she will leave me and

I was not ready to accept her any excuse. She said, ok I leave the decision on my daughter. She called her and asked her, what she wants?  She looked at me and then looked at her mother face. She said, I love you so much Danish, but I can not leave my mother alone.

Love At First Sight

Aima has passed her B.A exams in first division. She expressed her desire for M.A. She was interested to get admission in the University. Her father was a narrow minded person. He always kept a boundary around Aima. He did not like that his daughter get education in a University. He always against the co-education system. Her mother was died.

Aima’s elder brother Sajid insured his father, she will never loose our trust. He requested his father, please give permission to her. So, her father agreed and gave her permission.

She took admission in University. At first day at University, she was so confused and nervous. Everyone looked at her because she was so pretty with her beautiful sky eyes and has very fair complexion.
She was feeling uncomfortable. She was taking step in hurry, she clashed with a boy and her books fell down. She looked at him and said, Sorry. But boy could not said something because he was lost in her eyes. He was just looking at her and she stepped forward. His name was Sameer. He was the student of final year. He was one of the brilliant students of the University. He was not interested in girls. Most of the girls tried to be his friends but he refused them. As he saw Aima, he just thought about her all time. He tried to talk her but had no courage.

One day he saw Aima was sitting alone in a lawn. He came to her and sit beside her. He said to her, would she like to be his friend. She did not reply and stood up. Sameer stand up also and asked her again. She replied, she did not like to talk strangers and went away. After that sameer tried to met her daily and asked to be friend.
One day he was sitting sad in his room. His mother came and asked him the reason of his sadness, he replied, he loved to a girl. His mother asked, who is she? He told his mother about Aima.

His mother said, did you express your love?. He replied, no. His mother made him clear, just expressed your love to her. I hope she will accept.
